Wait… I didn’t apply there!

I just got an interview invitation from a program that I didn’t apply to… What do I do now?

SF Match confirmed distribution of my application to the 40 schools that I *did* designate, and I’ve gotten interviews from 10 of those already.  But then I got my 11th interview, and it’s from a program that was not on my distribution list.

If I accept and schedule the interview, will it be any different because I did not apply there on purpose?  Does the school *know* that I didn’t apply there intentionally, but they saw my app and decided to offer anyway?  It is typical for schools to see your application even if you didn’t apply, or does this mean my application was mis-distributed, such that I should call SF Match and ask them to verify things were done correctly?  I don’t mind getting extra offers, but I’d also like to know that my app did indeed get sent to all the programs where I intended it to go.

Can’t decide whether this is overall mildly alarming, or just a sweet bonus… All advice and insight welcome!

This happens every year, don’t be alarmed.  Some programs offer interviews to applicants who did not apply there to increase the number of people they get to interview.  If you want to interview there, then go; and if not, then politely decline.  Take it as a compliment!
