why is it that neurosurgical forums in particular lack input from attendings? all of the other specialties’ forums seem to get much more experienced participation. what gives?
think of all the disputes that could swiftly be settled by experienced voices...i bet Dr. Cushing would have been a regular poster.

I second this. Site admins, please cook up some documents from the ABNS stating that regular posting on this site is required for maintainance of board cert. if anyone doubts it, they’ll just ask their buddies who’ll say, “yeah, i got the same thing.” voila.

its because attendings know that theyll get slashed by anonymous guests in all our non-technical discussions about neurosurgery.
unlike other fields, the people here argue which program is best with evidence to back them up, quote salaries and stats without a problem, and are actively involved in the latest research to discuss traditional skull base vs. this new-fangled endoscopic approach.
so, when we tear into them, they know they got schooled by a bunch of interns and neurotic med students, and then theyll get pissed and look bad. perhaps in a non-anonymous forum we’d get better luck. think, how many times has a guest identified himself as a senior resident/pp/etc. and we get a quippy response from a med student trashing him? no one likes that.

i hear you, but a lot of the forums on this site require registration. yes, someone could still make a bunch of login names and have one or two simply for horsing around...but if kenny required a .edu address to register, then any disrespectful bastard that steps to a man of respect can be held accountable. just make it part of the TOS when registering that being a little sh*t will get your school email address published on the web.

yeah, makes me wonder if all the quippy posts we think are coming from med students are actually coming from attendings…

Maybe we could have an anonymous poll of the demographics of readers of UH.com?
MS0-2
MS3-4
PGY’s
Attending
Other?

Question from soon to be big man on campus. LINCOLN HIGH CLASS OF ‘08 RULES!
anyway, got a 1600 on my SAT so i decided brain surgeon it is. i dont care how gross blood is and i saw a cat brain once and DID NOT vommit. 6 days ago I removed a strawberry from some green jell-o...zero scarring, the strawberry did not recur.
so my q. what is an attending? is that like a flight attendant...do they bring the surgeons drinks and stuff? like different than a nurse? why would their opinions be so valuable?

Obviously a fake.. No one at any Lincoln High scored a perfect on the SAT last year. Also, it’s out of 2400 now, not 1600. Nice try bozo.

And when something goes without saying, it usually isn’t said. I’m sure i’m not the only sleep-deprived post-call resident that got a good laugh out of that.

I’m an 8th grader at Middleton High and I have to put my two cents in; it’s people like you that makes these brain surgeons hate pre-collegiate teens. Ever since I entered the glorious teenage years I vowed myself to act with a sense of respect and dignity so asswipes like you don’t ruin it for the rest of us, but you do anyway.
As an aside, I took part in the Johns Hopkins Talent Search and scored a 2130, which totally eclipses your measley 1600. Try chef, those 5 star restaurants would love you to remove their cherries from their anuses with minimal scarring and re-serve the food to their patrons.
To all you neurosurgeons, I sincerely apologize for this guy’s remarks, and I hope you don’t use it in a stereotype to the rest of us hardworking teens!
Also, my obgyn report came back. They removed 95% of the sand out of my vagina. I’ve got a checkup in three days so they can get that last 5%.

Everyone knows that neither women nor lefties can be surgeons, you’d have better luck with peds or psych missy.

Preposterous! The pig-headedness of you males is disgusting! You’ll all do well to let a woman teach you a few things! Like one, you completely missed that a 13 year old eighth grader regularly sees her ob/gyn. You should be giving me lectures on partaking in regular sex at such a young age! Shame on you all!
