In terms of applying, getting interviews and matching, how important are preclinical grades?

I’m a first-year at a Honors (above a 90)/Pass (70-89)/Fail (<70) med school and while I do okay, I always seem to be stuck with either a 88-89 in classes I try to honor, in some cases, decimals away from an honor. Is this going to really hurt me in applying? I plan to revamp my study method over the summer and will be doing research on brain tumors but will a solid step 1 score be enough although I didn’t do as well as I should have/wanted to my first year?

preclinical grades don’t matter all that much.  some interviewers might look at your neurosciences grade, but don’t sweat it.  step 1, research, away rotations, and clinical grades are much more important.
