The Neurosurgery Survival Guide app is now available for Android and there is a freshly updated version for the iPhone. This app is aimed at covering the immense amount of knowledge necessary to care for neurosurgical patients. The app covers all the basics of neurosurgery, neurocritical care, neurosurgical procedures, protocols for the On-Call physician, pediatric neurosurgery, Trauma, Learning, and ‘In the OR’.
All the material is derived from peer-review content in a rapid access easy to navigate and very concise format.
There is a new ‘In the OR’ Section which covers the basics of starting an OR case, positioning and pinning. It also covers many of the common procedures in a step-by-step guide.

New Content is added frequently and updates on individual phones automatically without the need for formal password-authenticated updates.

This app is a work in progress. It is updated constantly with new material and new sections as they are created. Updates to the actual content of the app are done automatically by the app itself each time it is opened to ensure that you have the most up-to-date version of the content database. In this way, the material is able to be updated with new recommendations as they become available.

There was a small bug with the initial Android version release which caused some phones to freeze. This has been fixed. If you experience any bugs or odd behavior let me know. Android tends to be a little more finicky as it covers several phone formats and hardware specs.

This is a very well done app. Thank you for this Neil! A great contribution. It would be nice to see more illustrations in the operative section for pinning and positioning.
Thanks

Recently purchased the Android version and very satisfied-a wonderful contribution, indeed! I look forward to updates, however, and hope the learning section is expanded with more figures such as the nice one of the ICA’s course and branches.

Update:
There has been several updates to the app from suggestions from users, thanks for your input. I added several sections to the learning section and overhauled many of the trauma sections updating them with the most recent trauma guidelines with references.
There was a comment on this thread a while back about using the Canadian C-spine rules for obtaining imaging versus the NEXUS criteria. This has been addressed and added a few other sections on indications for imaging in trauma.
Please continue to send me suggestions.
