What journals should I be reading as a med student? What journals do the residents usually read?
I usually read NEJM and BMJ, because they have good review articles, even though their surgical content is minimal.
I wonder what other sources other than textbooks can I explore.

i like to read oprah, in style, and playboy (the interviews, of course).

i would guess most residents read neurosurgery and JNS.  neurosurgical focus and contemporary neurosurgery are probably better suited for med students.

I’d throw Spine in there too. As a med student, reading JAMA, NEJM, and BMJ is a good idea—you’re on the right track.

i find that i barely get time to read those JAMAs we get for being in the AMA.  and my idea of relaxing isn’t reading those articles.  i live on the 17th floor of my building, with the mailboxes at the front desk.  so basically, from desk to elevator to my room, i skim the titles, and read the introduction, results, and conclusion of the abstracts of articles that actually study something relevant to medicine

(too often JAMA has BS articles, such as european model vs. the american, psychiatrists vs. psychologist, inner city models of prevention vs. urban, etc)—i tend to skip these

do you guys feel/do the same?
