I have made another common username for everyone to use for the ranklist submissions.
Username: ranklist10
Password: ranklist
Please use this username only for posting on the ranklist. If someone attempts to use this username for posting on other threads, the username will be deleted and the poster’s IP address will be banned.

Per the NRMP site (here), they are due at the same time. Although knowing most responsible programs/directors, I’m sure they locked their lists in last week already.

The programs and applicants have already submitted their lists. Neither one can make any changes now.

regarding list #7, what’s the risk/benefit of not posting top 5?

Maybe an identity thing? That person may have told a lot of people their top 5 places. Not sure how it matters though, lists and ranks are locked down, and I’m sure fellow applicants are already aware of many of each others’ lists via last-minute commiseration.
Only 9 ranks in so far, but Michigan’s looking popular this year—at least top 4 in lists with it ranked.

I think for some applicants their top 5 program can reveal their identity, especially if they told many people their top 5. Also, not matching in your top 5 would be a blow to their ego.

According to charting outcomes 2009, 295 people entered the match for neurological surgery.
That is 295 different rank lists.

Only 49 lists were posted last year. Hopefully we’ll get more this year. All questions will be answered on March 18th, but going up to then it’s nice see how the applicant pool rank lists compare to your own.

good turn out thus far...20+ already!
So Far it looks similar to last years in terms of programs in the top 5 consitently
Some observation:
- Miami is making a bunch of top 5 appearences
- The West coast programs are dog-eat-dog, I think UCSF, UW, USC, Stanford and BNI interviewd all the same people!! All are consistently making top 5 appeaences. USC and UW are either at the very top or near the bottom. Probably has to due with the trauma. makes sense I guess.
- BNI, while still in top 5 on most lists....it isn’t as consitently 1 or 2...and even a few outside top 5...maybe ppl are actually scared of what will happen when Speztler retires.
- The Brigham seems to be in the middle this year
- MGH is still making top 5 appearences
- Northwestern is still getting no love
- Some people really only interviewed in the midwest
- Cornell seems to be getting more love than Columbia for a change
- I like that people who didn’t just interview at top tier programs are posting there lists this year....gives hope to everyone and shows its possible to get 15-20 interviews and match even without the >260step1, AOA, and a PhD.
keep it up.

UMDNJ is on almost all the lists. It is a great program but anyone care to offer why such interest? intraoperative MRI?

Maybe its too early to tell but I’ve noticed that more applicants are ranking every place they’ve interviewed rather than leaving some programs off the rank list.
